![]() ![]() She wants to use the wings to grant herself immortality. As time passed, the magic in the worlds started to dwindle so the Sorceress hatched the plan to steal the dragon eggs so she could harvest the wings of the baby dragons. The Forgotten Realms were once inhabited by dragons but they were banished by the Sorceress after she had an argument with a Dragon Elder, making her the queen of the land. During the most recent event a rabbit named Bianca invades the Dragon Realms, steals the eggs, and brings them back to the Forgotten Realms where an evil Sorceress spreads them across several worlds and levels. I played it on an Xbox One X.Įvery twelve years, new dragon eggs are brought to the Dragon Realms and this event is known as “Year of the Dragon”. For this review, I played the Reignited version which is part of the Spyro Reignited Trilogy, released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in November, 2018. Developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Computer Entertainment, Spyro: Year of the Dragon was released for the PlayStation in October, 2000. I played the shit out of that game so, naturally, I was excited to get my hands on the sequel, Spyro: Year of the Dragon, which I received as a gift sometime after it released. Spyro the Dragon is what got me into 3D platformers but Spyro 2 is what really grabbed me. I’ve always leaned more towards the Spyro games because of their open-ended design and they are my favorite platformers on the PlayStation with Crash Bandicoot: Warped trailing right behind them. Spyro Reignited Trilogy - Spyro is gonna get some facial animations finally!ĭeveloped by Toys for Bob and published by Activision, Spyro Reignited Trilogy launches on 13 November 2018 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.The Spyro and Crash Bandicoot games for the original PlayStation are some of the best platformers on the system. They've already revealed that Tom Kenny, Spyro's original voice actor, is among the returning cast and there's a specially made Spyro Reignited Trilogy music theme as well. Toys for Bob are grateful for getting more time to work on the game, having recently tweeted that Spyro's fans will surely think the same once the game launches. We've recently heard rumours that Activision may end up including all three Spyro Reignited Trilogy, but it seems that the may is not turning into is anytime soon. Unfortunately, Toys for Bob and Activision have remained peculiarly silent on the issue, which means that the original plan is still in motion. In the meantime, Spyro Reignited Trilogy's launch date has been pushed back, leading many to hope, if not expect, that we'll be getting the whole package. Of course, everyone chalked this off to development time, disk space or whatever, with many suggesting that Toys for Bob needed more time to polish the beloved series. Only the first game in the trilogy, Spyro the Dragon, would end up on the disc, while the other two, Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage! and Spyro: Year of the Dragon, would follow as digital downloads. Spyro Reignited Trilogy online before it was officially announced but once the cat was out of the bag, Activision followed it up with some unfortunate news. ![]() Well, not really questions, more like a single question - why aren't all three games featured in Spyro Reignited Trilogy sold on a single disc? Dual-layer Blu-ray can fit up to 50GB of data, so now we're certain it's not a matter of disc capacity being the limiting factor. ![]()
